The Power Source: The metals themselves do not contain magic. They act as a “key” or conduit. Burning a metal’s unique molecular structure opens a gateway to the spiritual power of the god-shard Preservation.
The Process: An Allomancer swallows metal flakes dissolved in a liquid vial. They then chemically “burn” the metal in their stomach to activate its corresponding power.
Flaring: Users can consciously “flare” a metal. This burns the reserve faster but drastically magnifies the power output.
Safety & Poisoning: Allomancers must use highly precise chemical compositions. Impure metals or bad alloy ratios will make them severely ill. Leftover metal is safely burned away before sleeping to prevent physical side effects. User Types
Mistings: Individuals born with the generic trait to burn only one of the regular metals.
